Diet

I'd recommend the Rosemary Conley way of eating. Stick to things which are a maximum of 5% fat or less, plenty of fruit and veg and factor in some exercise - even just walking if you aren't used to exercise. But, it has to be a change of lifestyle really, and it has to be for life. There's no point in shedding a few pounds and then going back to your old ways. I lost 3 stone and ran my first marathon in October and I used to be a lardy-assed couch potato (by my own admission). I still eat chocolate and drink wine, but in moderation, and with plenty healthy things in my diet.

The WeightWatchers Points Plan is a good one too, nothing is out of bounds, everything has a point value and you can save up points for a treat.
Exercise really is the name of the game though.
