Have had a reply from SHK Property, the company that owns Quoiters, confirming Gastro Taverns status. SHK have applied for a licence and hope to re-open as Quoiters asap, initially as a bar with the food aspect to follow. They may also use this website to advertise vacancies.

In view of revived interest in the former Quoiters Bar I have emailed the company reported to have taken over. I have asked for an update either to my personal email or direct to the website. Watch this space.

The same company have done up Claire's bar in Market Street in Aberdeen and turned it into the Gas Lamp. I went for lunch one day when I was shopping with my mum and the decor is lovely, and so was the food. The food isn't fancy at all, with a good range of different types and prices to suit everyone. My mum had a chicken and bacon salad and I had a mushroom, spinach and goat's cheese burger and we were both very happy with what we got.
Just a quickie cos in a rush - in the initial press release for The Village, the article said that they intended it to be a female and family friendly venue so sounds just right :-))). The food does sound a wee bit fancy but as long as it tastes good then I'll be happy - can't stand the 'greasy pub food thats sits in your tummy for the rest of the day' type feeling that some places give you.
At their other venues they hold monthly Ladies Nights too at £12.95 a head for 2 courses, a cocktail and a dessert platter - hope they do the same here, block booking anyone.......

***Wouldn't it be good if.....*** Planning for Real® Newtonhill, Muchalls and Cammachmore
I have been on the Gastro Pub website and looked at the other venues which they have.
I must say, very fancy. But i hope that they get the place right, for newtonhill. We would want somewhere comfortable to go to not somewhere, where you would feel socialy inadequate.
I do hope that they would bring an air with it where woman would feel more comfortable. At the moment, we only have the Newton. This is not a womans pub. If you want to go out to your local for a drink with your other half and make a night of it, this would not be the first place a woman would want to go.
The lounge has no atmosphere and the bar, has a men only zone vibe. There is no-where for you to sit unless you want to join in a game of domino's.
Lets hope the new "Village" pub gets the balance right. A local pub, with a heart and atmosphere.
Won't be called Quoiters when it reopens but can't remember the alternative. The licence will be applied for this month, but company currently concentrating on opening a place in Aberdeen, so may not be this side of Christmas.
I notice on their website it has gone from "opening September" to "opening soon", so I guess things must have taken a little longer than they were expecting. They're advertising jobs on their recruitment page, so can't be too far off.
There's been a van outside on a regular basis and lights on well into the evenings.
In my opinion your local pub must have the following:
Jukebox
Pool Table
Darts Board
TV for the football
Sounds like the Newton to me....................................which also has a separate lounge which is family/women friendly which has none of these things.......................and actually does have a beer garden.
I'll naturally give the Quoiters the benefit of the doubt but there is a good pub in the village that seems to have a bit of everything for everyone.
Choice and variety is good - we can't all like the same things.
They're not just being creative describing the benches they had in the car park?
My first house (many miles from here!) had a very small front garden in which I put a couple of slabs to accommodate a bench, a small bush, and a pebble pool which cost about £20 from Wickes. Sold as "landscaped front garden complete with patio, shrubbery and water feature" or some such gibberish ;-)
Real Ales have been tried before in Newtonhill and there is not enough uptake in the village for a pub to justify stocking it - they end up throwing out more than they can sell!
Don't believe everything you hear in Newtonhill.
Notorious for spouting incredible amounts of false rumours.
The one I heard was that it was bought by a businessman/consortium from Dundee who have zero interest in running a pub, so is looking for new tennants to lease it. Will have to be soon though as license board meets in early June, then not again until October.
Until it opens I doubt anyone can say for certain what it will be.

Seems to me the two pubs have been very similar up to now - a few standard lagers and bitters, a TV screen for Sky Sports, etc. Perhaps if the new owners opt for something different, the two venues can each support their own loyal crowd.
Yep, Closed again. Was just a matter of time. Hope the new people get it right this time. Heard the new people will have a fish theme for the food part?? Yummy.....

Quoiters
Guess there won't be a response then. Will do some more investigating, or as my husband says, being nosey.

Web site
for Gastro Taverns states
"Gastro Taverns are currently in liquidation" so maybe Quoiters will not be opening......??
Cheers!

Perhaps...
Perhaps all seems in order precisely because a bit of control was applied? :-)
??
Don't understand this. All seems in order?? Bit of over control methinks.

Anyone know whats happening here?? Is this opening up as "The Village"?? When??

Ah, now that sounds like the best of both worlds. Now if folk would just start drinking proper ale again.... ;-)

Anywhere with a television is a sports bar and not a proper pub. All imho, of course ;-)
They can keep the footie
They can keep the footie screen, and still make it a female and family friendly pub.

Hopefully that means they'll be chucking the football screen out then ;-) A commitment to local producers is promising too.
