BEWARE Thief about

A resident of Greystone Place has been the victim of an opportunist theft. The house was occupied but the front door was not locked. Someone sneaked in and stole a laptop.
Please ensure the same thing does not happen to you!
This is a thankfully a relatively rare occurance in Newtonhill, but nonetheless there is somebody about we'd rather wasn't!

Beware

Buster, sorry for the obvious distress this has and is causing you and yours. My earlier posts were to warn householders of potential thefts and to support victims.
My comments were based on the experience of being burgled and coping with the fallout from a kids' mistake. I'd be happy to talk if you want to contact me via the webmaster.

BEWARE Thief about

look, I am not condoning or excusing in any way what happened. BUT! Does no one get a second chance these days?? Have none of you done things in the past you regret?? I know I have, but if folk learn from mistakes, ain't that a good thing? However, it seems that there is no such thing as forgive n forget, or maybe it's a case of give a dog a bad name etc.

I know my son did wrong, I am horrified but he HAS learnt. & any person who has an ounce of humanity will accept this & let him move on with his young life. IF he continues to get blamed for every incident that occurs within a 6 mile radius, well, why should he bother trying. & to be honest, I am v v dissapointed in folk in t village, I've lived here for nearly 18 years and thought that folk were understanding. NOT!:(((((((((((

Time to leave?

I too have been a victim

Painters & decorators were in & left my sliding patio doors open about 1" to allow the paint to dry.

Own fault, forgot to check THAT door along with all other windows & doors as we do religiously every night. Just unfortunate timing thieves were about that night, or was it just by chance?????

2 of them entered our house while the whole family was asleep upstairs. They were so silent, they didn't even waken our 2 dogs who were also asleep upstairs.

They took no notice of the burglar alarms on the walls to the front & rear of the property and took no notice of the dog sign on the garden gate. (As they didn't have to break anything to get entry, the alarm didn't activate)

They took a brand new laptop that I relied on for my work so it impacted my income, kids savings banks, video recorder, all our dvd's, digital camera, digital recorder and loads more of easy portable equipment.

GUTTED is an understatement!

To walk down the stairs in the morning and see the patio door fully open is something no one should have to experience thanks to these mindless CRIMINALS who have no conscience about ruining peoples lives.

And what about insurance cover? No, the house was insecure, even though we were in it at the time and the insurance company washed their hands completely!

The police took evidence and that was the last I heard. Never did get my property back from them either, even though I left telephone messages afterwards asking for it to be returned.

There is NO excuse for theft, NONE whatsoever.

I tried afterwards to set up a Neighbourhood watch in our street, but it didn't attract enough people for Grampian Police to action. So much for looking out for each other.

BEWARE Thief about

this was as adirect result of bullying & intimidation. As the mother of one of the boys involved, I would say to all parents, do you know exactly what YOUR kids get up to?? This did not result due to lack of parental guidance, & I refuse to accept any blame. My son has been punished by both the law and by us, his parents. He is working very hard to make reparation for this act which was extremely out of character. Do not judge if you do not know the full details or us. In summing up, the lack of support and the way in which we have been collectively shunned by the community has left me stunned.. but of course, we're the only family with a child who's done wrong..................................................

Beware

Two 15 and a 16 according to my copy of the P&J.
Age is really immaterial, an anti-social act was committed which may have deeper impact on victims, neighbours and the wider community than the loss of property.
Congratulations to Grampain Police and anyone else involved in apprehension of the alleged perpetrators. We must hope, if these 3 individuals are found to be the guilty parties, that the judicial system and parental guidance ensure no repetition.

Not sure if my mother gave

Not sure if my mother gave me the correct information - but she said in Aberdeen paper that it was three 15 year olds who have been caught for this?
