The Community Council has received a letter from Aberdeenshire Council with regards to the Post Office facilities in Newtonhill. A copy of the letter (in 2 parts) is available to view at the bottom of this page under "Attachments". Villagers can express their views on the proposed service as explained in the letter.
We have got a special message from Santa to pass on to everyone in Newtonhill who was kind enough to put something into our collection buckets at the weekend. We are delighted to announce that we collected over £1000! Some of that will go towards the costs of the Seniors Party in February, and the rest will join the NVA funds which allow us to pay the expenses involved in organising events for you all to enjoy.
Thank you!
The Community Council have recently received a letter informing them that the Newtonhill Post Office will remain closed for the moment as the Sub Postmaster has resigned. The Post Office are now looking into how they can maintain the provision of Post Office services within the village and have suggested that this might best be achieved by providing a "Hosted Outreach Service" which means that a Sub Postmaster from a nearby branch would operate Post Office services within a fixed site in the community such as a village hall, community centre or public house. For more information on Hosted Outreach Services, see http://www.postoffice.co.uk/find-out-more/about-us/our-network/outreach-....
The Community Council are therefore seeking the views of the residents of Newtonhill so that they might respond to this suggestion.
A thread has been created on the Forum, and you may wish to add your comments there, or you can contact a Community Councillor. http://www.nmccc.org.uk/

The NVA exisits to create and maintain a sense of community in this unique coastal area of Kincardineshire. All residents of Newtonhill and East and West Cammachmore are automatically members and are welcome to attend meetings to raise community issues or help in organising a range of social events.
Annually the NVA organises a senior citizens party, a firework display, Bells at the Bettridge, the Skateraw Fair (last Sat in June) and the Santa Run. The NVA maintains this website, produces a handbook of village group detail and other useful information and produces and distributes the Newsey newsletter 3-4 times a year.
These efforts are supported by advertisers, sponsors and proceeds from the NVA 200 club. Everyone can join in that support by becoming a member of the 200 club for £1 per entry per month. An application form can be downloaded from the website. A draw takes place at our monthly meeting with a prize of half of that month's income to the winner.
Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of most months at 7.30pm in the Newton Arms Lounge, with the AGM in October, all are welcome. You can also join the NVA's volunteer army at:
